What are we missing?

As I write this, it’s snowing.

It may seem strange to say this, but I’ve missed snow this year. During a conversation with a new friend, we both agreed how much we enjoyed snow. Yes, it can be a pain in every part of our body. Yes, it can mean lots of work to clear it from needed roads, pathways and steps. Yes, the list of negatives can go on for a long time.

However, when gently falling upon me, I so enjoy its quiet beauty. With a little wind — not blizzard type winds — it forms into amazing snow drifts and geometric compositions. Yes, I miss it, but it’s falling now and its badly needed. Besides, who doesn’t love to make a snowman?

The falling snow got me to wondering what else we are missing in our everyday lives. Naturally, that’s a personal question, but after a bit of Bauhous Guavatron, I’ll continue. The brew is a classic German style gose ale that’s infused with pink guava juice. I had never tasted it before, and it immediately appealed to me with its tropical citrus taste and crisp dry finish. It’s a bit fizzy and that taste is always appreciated.

OK, I’m not missing that brew from now on, but again, the falling snow urged me to focus on what I am missing.

I miss spending time with my family. I want to think you feel the same when you haven’t been with them for awhile. How to solve this type of missing? Well, if you can’t be with them in person, how about calling them or having a FaceTime session with them? We need those family connections.

I miss the green of spring with flowers blooming and trees opening their buds to produce all the beautiful leaves we enjoy. It’ll all be back soon, it always has and it will again. To honor those soon to be glorious spring moments, I will later enjoy a glass of Overstone Sauvignon Blanc. It has such nice tropical fruit flavors flowing around the center flavor of guava (Yep, there’s that guava taste again!). It’s a wonderful Marlborough New Zealand wine.

Learning has always been important to me. That’s why I constantly enjoy reading about new subjects such as the history of our terrific bluff county. Also, one learns a lot by meeting new people, and that doesn’t mean you have to become BFFs. However, you will learn something that you may have missed in past encounters.

I recently read an article about reaching out to old friends, classmates or relatives. We all have them. For a few seconds think about someone you haven’t touched in a long time. Then, reach out and fill in that missing spot in your life.

It’s nice to take a walking talk with someone. That’s been missing in my sphere, and I must restart it. A walking talk can also mean just quietly walking with someone — it’s the presence that counts.

Well, the question begs to be asked. What are you missing in your corner of the world? The usual response to this question is that we aren’t missing anything because we are so dang busy. Ah, there’s the issue. Don’t let busyness let you miss out on the important people, places and things in your world. Somehow, I have faith you will find the time and fill it with your missing things.

If you are missing a dearly departed member of the family or a friend, take a few moments to think of the good times you had with that person. Then, laugh!

Now, I want to enjoy a bit of Amici Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s been missed for sometime, I want to reacquaint myself with the wines full bodied black cherry taste and lusciously long smooth finish.

So, once again … what are you missing? I urge all of us to fill in that missing part of ourselves. Let’s live life and be happy!

As always, eat and drink in moderation but laugh with reckless abandon!

Cheers!
