Last week, I wrote about the two new display cases featuring collection items from 1924 and 1974. We also have a display case in the front entry with a new seasonal display with hearts or Valentine's Day items from the museum's collection. Below is a listing of the items located in the display cases:
Hatpin holder: Hatpin holder once belonged to Clara Schrunk of Lynd.
Valentine's Day cards: Cards belonged to Carole (Nuese) Martin. Some cards were sent to her and some were sent to her grandparents, Archell and Rose Coequyt.
Card and Box: Large Valentine's Day card and box once belonged to the Josie (Hovland) Severson Family.
Valentine's Day cards: Two cards given to Wayne Greeley. One of them is from Miss Seiler, dated 1932. The other is from Miss Glynn from 1937. They both fold out to form hearts. Wayne Greeley attended Lyon County School District # 84 school in Sodus Township.
Program: 1973-1974 program and schedule for the New Horizons Study Club of Marshall.
Frame: Vintage frame showing photographs depicting Cupid.
Pillow: Heart shaped pillow once belonged to Emerence (Van Hee) Kerkvliet.
The photograph featured this week from the Lyon County Museum's collection shows the two Valentine's Day cards given to the late Wayne Greeley. As mentioned above, Wayne attended Lyon County School District # 84 in Sodus Township. He received one of the cards in 1932 from his teacher Miss Seiler and the other card he received in 1937 from his teacher Miss Glynn. The cards were donated to the Lyon County Museum in 2018 by Wayne's wife, Joyce Greeley of Marshall.
