OK, enough, but…

Like many of you, I’ve heard myself telling the goddesses of the four seasons that enough is enough.

OK, enough with the heat of summer. Please open the celestial windows and let the cool breezes of fall envelop us. We’ve had enough of the hotness of summer. We’ve sweated enough. We appreciated the “warmth” of the summer months — I’m being Minnesota Nice here — but dear goddess of summer, you overdid the temperatures a bit.

And, please let it rain! In case you haven’t noticed, oh goddess of summer, you forgot to turn on the rain spigot. Our soil is as dry as a poorly timed joke. Our rivers are getting low. Water is a necessity of life, right, oh goddess? Think of all the thirsty plants! The trees that want to burst forth with fall colors are suffering.

OK, enough with the summer months. We enjoyed them the best we could. Now it’s time to cool down.

Excuse me for a moment while I slacken my thirst with a cool glass of Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc. I’ll enjoy the wine’s straw like color. It reminds me of my days of baling straw. Then, I’ll sense the fruity aroma before I sip and savor the liquids clean and off dry flavors. Ah! That’s better!

Also, please enough with our not so nice talk about each other. Oh goddess of fall, let your coolness lower the temperatures of our conversations, and let us all realize we need each other.

All right, enough with complaining. You know there are some aspects of life that we should never get enough of. How about…

Laughter! We should never have enough laughter surrounding us. I like to read publications from religious institutions in which the author reveals amazing humor. All experiences in life have a sense of laugh within them. May I suggest that while you seek the funny side of a moment, you reach for a fun wine?

With its pretty pink color, Smoking Loon Rosé is pleasing to see in the glass. Inhale the comforting melon aroma, and then smile as the wine’s flavor of strawberries pass over your taste buds. Its naturally low acidity and clean finish are worth a nod of appreciation.

Another element of life we should never get enough of is nature. Yes, it was tough to fully enjoy summer this year, but the goddess of fall is promising us a pleasant fall season. Get out and see as many colored leaves as you can. Suck in the cool air and allow the natural wonders surrounding you to fill you with relaxation. One should never get enough of the balance and complexity of nature.

Speaking of balance and complexity, an absolutely spectacular wine to sip in the fall is Clos Pecase Cabernet Sauvignon. This beautifully garnet colored wine is filled with complex and interlocking flavors of black cherries and plums. Along the tasting trail, you’ll taste a bit of cedar and licorice. I find it a perfect balance to the complexity of nature, and will always enjoy this lovely wine.

A couple of other aspects of life we should not get enough of is friendship and kindness. Many times you’ll find them revealing themselves at the same time. Go for them! Keep friendships close to you and spread your kindness as boldly as you spread your laughter.

A kind and friendly wine is Bogle Merlot. It’s kind to your wallet, and it will befriend you with its deep and intense flavors. Look for lots of plum with some fruity cherry tastes.

Once again, goddess of summer, thank you for your “warm” temperatures, but you overdid it a bit. Now goddess of fall, come forth!

As always, eat and drink in moderation but laugh with reckless abandon.

Cheers!
