In case you haven't noticed, it's hot!
For those of us who live in the North County, it's a given we love our four seasons. And because of that, we also know the wonders (?) of the extreme temperatures. From the 40 degree below zero wind chills of winter to the hot, humid 90 degrees of summer, we experience much of the totality of the thermometer.
For now, let's focus on our current summer temperatures. Because once again, it's hot! How do we endure this heat? I don't think it's necessary for me to instruct you about what's the best way for you to handle the heat -- you probably have your best thoughts and practices on that subject. However, may I share some really cool thoughts?
How about a glass of rosé wine? For one thing, the wine's color matches many of the flowers we see about us, so who can argue with the beautiful pink color of the wine? OK, color issue solved! Now, again, why a rosé?
Sparkling rosé wines feature flavors that are fruity. You should expect a citrus taste akin to strawberry or cherry or even raspberry. The wine is usually a lighter tasting liquid, and ranges from sweet to dry. Of course, one always chills this wine!
Enough of that -- here are a few of my favorite rosé wines.
Chateau Ste Michelle Rosé is a winner. It's elegantly dry with strawberry and raspberry tastes. It's a beautiful pink and is a blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. Cool this beauty a bit, get into the shade and chill out!
Want something a bit sweeter? Grab a bottle of Stella Rosa Rosé, and enjoy the wine's semi-sweetness. It is a blend made mostly from Moscato grapes which results in, once again, very cool strawberry flavors. It's a reasonably priced sparkling rosé so you enjoy not only the wine, but also the price. Go ahead, be cool!
After a hot day, what if we pour a glass of Francis Coppola Sofia Rosé? It has a touch of sweetness to it that goes nicely with the light notes of peach and spices. It has a history of helping folks chill out -- try it!

Let's share a bottle of Cupcake Sparkling Rosé. Initially, this light bodied beauty exhibits dryness, but the finish treats us to some sweetness. I like the wines raspberry and orange tastes, its floral aromas and that takes us back to those before mentioned flowers of summer.
Now, please forgive me as I end this writing so I can not only talk the talk, but walk the walk. I'm going to have a glass of 14 Hands Unicorn Rosé. This bubbly is so refreshing, and I certainly like the citrus flavors it offers me.
So, stay cool, my friends. Find the shade, feel the breeze, hold the chilled rosé against your wrist for a few seconds (It actually has a cooling effect.), rest easy and sip!
Remember, in the heat, one must not go fast. Therefore, slowly sip your wine -- there's so much enjoyment in that moment.
