‘Work Hard, Play Harder’ podcast episode 11: Dolan, Dolan and Dolan: TMB athletes Camille, Grace and Margaret

Last week, I had the 10th episode of my podcast “Work Hard, Play Harder” with Wabasso softball coach Tiffany Eichten. This week, I am dropping episode 11 with Tracy-Milroy-Balaton athletes and sisters Margaret Dolan, Grace Dolan and Camille Dolan. The Dolans have been playing sports since a very early age and have always played the same sports together on the same team. For the first time, they will be split up due to graduation for Camille and Margaret.

The podcast is called “Work Hard, Play Harder” because that’s how I like to live my life. It is about finding out your why and getting to know you beyond the occupation. The podcast is informative about what you do but also asks fun questions as well. Building connections and being able to be relatable is an important aspect of my podcast as well.

In this podcast episode, Camille, Grace and Margaret Dolan will talk about their why into wanting to be involved with sports, the importance of the sports in their lives, coming from an entire family that is supportive of them and all of the Dolans as a family. Camille and Margaret have recently graduated high school and will be attending college in the fall. Camille will be going to Winona State University and Margaret is heading to Moorhead State University. Although they will not be pursuing athletics on a Division I level, both sisters will play intramurals through their University. Grace, the youngest, will be a senior at TMB High School. Grace advocated on how different and challenging it will be to be without her sisters attending school for the first time in her life.

“It will be a really big change for me because I’ve never had to go without them,” Grace said. “However, I have learned from them on how to step into the leadership role of cheering someone up, being the energy on the team or being that person that someone can come to, to talk. My sisters taught me that and I felt that was something I really needed to learn.”

The girls were very praiseworthy of the support of their family and how close-knit they are as a group, attending all of the functions including games/events for their brothers. Throughout the conversation there will be a bunch of laughs and smiles and I get to know their why into sports and who they are off the field/court.

Later in the interview towards the end, I made the surprising announcement to Margaret that she was named the 2022 Marshall Independent Softball Player of the Year, with her sisters in attendance.

Margaret was overjoyed and couldn’t thank enough people, and was really appreciative for the honor bestowed upon her. She would then talk about the impact that her teammates and coaches have had on her career.

“Coach [Karl] Campbell is a different kind of coach, he is supportive and also gives you confidence that you can do it,” Margaret said. “One of the things he would always say is work hard or it’s not good enough. My teammates and I had fun together and I really enjoyed the sport of softball. They were hyping me up and giving me confidence and support. We didn’t start out close, but at the end of the year we were a close-knit group who really liked playing with each other.”

This episode will show the personality of the three, being very engaging and talkative. It will also exhibit the passion for family and for sports as well. It will most importantly show how hard these three work to have a great supportive relationship between each other and friends as well. Both Camille and Margaret advocated that they built their school schedules to come back down to support Grace in her games but also to be around family as much as possible.
