Solve our problems by following the Constitution
To the editor:
It’s truly sad to see how far from our Constitutional principles we have fallen as the self proclaimed “progressives” continue with their chants of this is what democracy looks like. Our Founders wrote a Constitution creating a republican form of government giving the people the power to govern themselves. How are we doing with that? Do you feel like you have any power over your own lives or are you abiding by rules and regulations thrust upon you by a unfriendly, tyrannical overlord? I fear it’s the latter.
There was a time, not so long ago, when we would elect people who respected their oath to protect and defend our sacred individual rights. These days it seems more people are attacking the very people who are holding to the principles laid out in our Constitution. Now we elect people to positions that want to make it their career.
Politicians dream up and design programs that benefit some in an effort to buy votes so they can maintain their positions in elected office using taxes from the responsible people that work and follow the rules but are not able to qualify for the benefits provided by the program. These programs require government workers at the state and county levels to implement, along with employee benefits, and furnished offices in buildings that require electricity, heat and air conditioning. In the end, barely 20% of every dollar gets to the recipient. Do the words efficiency and affordability fit into this scenario?
So, what is the end game for these progressive democracy zealots? In a word, control. They want to control every aspect of our lives. They fear monger, lie, cheat and do whatever is necessary to maintain control while ensuring themselves a life of privilege. That is not what our Founders intended when they created our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Nearly every problem today can be solved by relearning and restoring the original principles the Founders placed in the US Constitution.
