What’s the real problem?
To the Editor:
“Nothing is more common than for a free people, in times of heat and violence, to gratify momentary passions, by letting into the government principles and precedents which afterwards prove fatal to themselves,”
– Alexander Hamilton, 1784.
If we don’t think like criminals when proposing new gun laws, we could easily fall prey to Hamilton’s warning — literally. The latest shootings and death of Charlie Kirk, have once again, brought the ownership of guns to the forefront: who should or should not have them, what types, etc. There is a widespread rush to “do something,” while we ignore how criminals think, before they proceed with their illegal or deadly actions. The late Mao Zedong said, “Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.” Just a fluke you might presume? No, he said that in 1927 and 1938, and how many millions of Chinese were killed when he led China?
Professor R. J. Rummel’s book Death by Government, details the death totals when only the government has the weapons. His summary is that the injuries and deaths by mass shooters, pales in comparison to the “democide” (Rummel’s coined word) perpetrated by corrupt governments.
Many want to blame guns, but what do the various drugs and hormones do to the thinking of transgendered individuals? We’re playing God in a dangerous way, when such gender bending takes place. If Gov. Walz, is sincerely concerned about children, he could start by eliminating the gender-affirming law in Minnesota. That label sounds innocent enough, but look up the details for yourself.
