Trump blames others for his failures

To the editor:

Here we go again. Another Trump failure, this time the cuts end up biting Texas. Trump cuts the National Weather Service and Texas has a flash flood. No one knew it was coming. This sounds familiar, just like the COVID pandemic. Even though the Obama administration had put together a pandemic playbook and response team, Trump threw it in the garbage and disbanded the pandemic unit. Now the NWS has been cut significantly, and Trump has plans to cut the FEMA department completely and let the states handle it on their own.

Trump as usual blamed President Joe Biden, six months after Trumps presidency started. Where was Trump at after the flood? He was busy playing golf instead of going to Texas. So far since his inauguration Trump has played golf on 38 days after 150 days in office, costing the tax payers $50 million. Maybe Trump needs to do something about climate change instead of scheduling $80 million parades and going on three-day golf trips every week.

Scientists have been warning for decades that with the temperature rise and global warming, storms would become more extreme, and floods and hurricanes are doing just that, but Trump claims, no one new. The insurance companies know, because they are paying more claims and the premiums are going up in response. With the Trump policies of subsidizing oil and gas and cutting the subsidies of the renewable energy companies such as solar and wind power and electric vehicles, things will only get worse.
