Steve Boyd for CD 7

To the editor:

A pair of quotes fit most politicians: “Love for public office makes cowards out of most men [and women].” – Matthew Cowley, and “Most politicians prefer political plums rather than political principles.” – John A. Widtsoe

With the Aug. 13 primary voting date upon us, you may be interested in the following information, regarding the contest between Michelle Fischbach and Steve Boyd, but first a little history. When Michelle was running the first time, for Congressional District 7 in 2020, I wondered why David Hughes wasn’t the candidate, as he had come the closest to beating incumbent Collin Peterson in 2016 and 2018. Trouble was he didn’t have the support of the GOP on the national level. Why?

Republican leadership had phoned Mr. Hughes in mid-2019 and asked him two questions: 1) Would he quit mentioning the House (US) Freedom Caucus, which David agreed to. 2) If Kevin McCarthy runs for Speaker of the US House, would David vote for him? He simply said that he would not make that decision until he knew who else might be seeking that position. Mr. Hughes never heard from the GOP leadership again and they chose Ms. Fischbach to be their candidate. So much for grass roots influence.

America Leads is the group printing up and mailing the promotional material supporting Rep. Fischbach. It’s worth a few minutes of your time to read the information regarding their agenda. Quickly you will find that they are not in favor of any GOP candidates who agree with the House Freedom Caucus, which is a group of Republican lawmakers, who are attempting to follow the US Constitution, in the tradition of the Founding Fathers.

So, from the information above, I encourage you to cast a vote Steve Boyd on Tuesday.

P. S. The old adage that, “the devil is in the details,” holds true in this political campaign. It is also true, that one of the 45 goal of the Communist Party, was to take over one or both major political parties, and to some degree, it seems the followers of Marx have succeeded.
