To the editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the Marshall Tigers girls head coach Dan Westby and assistant coaches Stephanie Bot, Brian Liebfried and Alex Cleppe.

The respect and devotion you show these girls is absolutely remarkable. A good coach is always more than just a coach. They are individuals you look up to and are role models. Bottom line — great leaders create great leaders. Thank you to all four of you for being great leaders for our daughters/sisters/granddaughters. Parents are trying to raise good humans and you take it over from there for practices and games and I want you to know we all appreciate your commitment.

I was at one of the games and opposing team’s coach was unpleasant with the way she talked to her team. If I had seen that toward our girls in that manner, I would be having words. I never see that from you four individuals and never will.
