To the editor:
The US Constitution, Article I, section 1, paragraph 1 "All legislative or lawmaking powers granted by this Constitution shall be vested exclusively in the Congress of the United States".
Judges or a group of judges have no authority to make law. Neither do bureaucrats in Federal or State departments of whatever. As a matter of fact, Congress has the power to legislate law only with the consent of the governed.
Have we the people consented with all the laws the State and Federal Congresses have and are legislating currently?
In reality, many of the rules and laws we are required to obey have been "litigated" in courts and enforced by unelected bureaucrats. This happens more often than not due to the fact that many of our current laws would never be successful through the legislative process. These rulings are "opinions" and are not law and we have the right and duty to not comply. If you know and understand the Constitution, you would know this to be true.
Because we are not familiar with our Constitution, we have gotten lazy and over the years we no longer make the effort to be involved in the affairs of politics and government. The fact that nearly 35 to 40 percent of the citizenry doesn't even bother to vote in our elections prove that.
More proof can be found in the pitifully low or non attendance at caucuses. If you want to make a difference, take the time and attend your Minnesota precinct caucus Tuesday, Feb. 27. It is the duty of every legal citizen to continually defend and protect our Constitution by being involved. Be the somebody that does something.
