Make intersection more safe
To the editor:
I agree with Denise Lee’s op-ed about the intersection of County Road 33 and Highway 23. It has always been dangerous, and while I agree with her that a change needs to happen, I think a stoplight is best, one with “prepare to stop when lights are flashing” signs perhaps on both County Road 33 and Highway 23. If I’m not mistaken, County Road 33 is under Lyon County’s jurisdiction, and Highway 23 is under the state. The city of Marshall probably doesn’t have say in what happens to that intersection, and while I don’t live in that area anymore, I still want my family who does live there to be safe. We should make a joint effort in contacting both the county and state to make this intersection safer.
And, because I know how bad another intersection is, I’d like the state to look into making Highway 23 around Green Valley a safer road. While waiting for incoming traffic from the north so we can turn into Green Valley, all we can do is hope that the people behind us will be paying attention to the fact that there is a bypass lane to the right. One too many crashes is all it takes… at any intersection.
