The YMCA works side-by-side with our neighbors to address critical community needs and pressing social concerns. We strive to nurture the potential of our youth, improve the health of all citizens, build a sense of community, and ensure the most vulnerable get the care and support they need. The proposed City of Marshall aquatic center can be a part of helping us meet our mission.
The YMCA and the City of Marshall have existing partnerships in addition to the potential to work together in future aquatics programming. The new aquatic center being located near the YMCA would help facilitate further collaboration. Small town quality of life is heavily dependent on the partnerships developed across all sectors. The viability of our youth and adult recreation opportunities are enhanced when we work together, and an investment in the aquatic center would provide long-term benefits to the YMCA, the City of Marshall, and future generations of residents.
For these reasons, our YMCA Board of Directors fully supports the City of Marshall's proposed new aquatic center, and we advocate for passage of extending the current sales tax at the Nov. 7 special election.
