My story at the Marshall YMCA
To the editor:
I lived in Marshall most of my life, and for the last 16 years I’ve been a member of the YMCA. I’m a volunteer for a number of programs at the YMCA as well as a board member currently serving my second time on the board.
But for me it all started when my children were young, and my wife and I were looking for some activities for our kids to be involved in, as well as for us as adults, at that time I had no idea of all the wonderful things that the YMCA was going do for our family. The YMCA provided my family the opportunity to live a healthier life, in a safe environment while feeling welcome. My kids learned to swim at the YMCA, they tried their first sports at the YMCA, and grew up to be great high school athletes. Now as adults they are working for the YMCA, helping with different youth and adult programs. I feel blessed to be part of the YMCA’s mission, and truly believe that the YMCA has made a positive impact in the life of many other families of our community.
