To the editor:
I'd like to offer a brief word of commendation in favor of my friend and colleague, Charlie Sanow, as he seeks to renew his position as County Commissioner for District 1.
I've known Charlie for over 20 years now, and in all that time he hasn't changed in terms of the core of his character, which I have always found to be honest, friendly, knowledgeable, and resourceful about so many practical subjects. Whenever I have a question about how something works with respect to the management of the city or state, he is one of my first go-to resources.
Having worked with him for years on local and regional transportation committees and issues, I have always been impressed by the breadth of his understanding in terms of how things work and practical solutions for addressing issues. In that time he has remained a consistent and staunch advocate in supporting not just local and regional transportation options that benefit the city of Marshall and the surrounding region (with respect to both individuals and businesses), but also the needs of people with disabilities.
Anyone who knows him can also tell you he is someone who speaks his mind and stands for what he believes in, but always in a respectful way. I would also describe him as a fiscal conservative, though one who is not afraid to suggest spending money in order to fund a necessary service, if the proposed end justifies the means. This is all to say that I think we need more people like Charlie in leadership at every level, and that I commend him to you as the candidate to vote for this year as County Commissioner for District 1.
