To the editor:
Ben Walker is running for a seat on the local school board. He is an engaged Marshall citizen who wants to help MPS thrive.
Marshall deserves strong advocates for our school district and he fits the bill because:
Three of his kids are in our schools, so he has a vested interest in the success of students and staff of MPS. Before his current job as a teacher at SMSU, he taught high school and he understands the challenges educators face. Being involved and giving back is important to him. He is an active member of the Marshall Parent Teacher Association and helps raise money for classroom funds. We are all part of the Marshall community and it takes everyone chipping in to make a difference! That is Ben's belief, which is why he volunteers to clean up parks, serves on a city wide committee, and prioritizes shopping locally -- ALL things that support our community.
He pledges to be an accessible school board member and I believe him.
We need this kind of person. I urge you to cast your vote for Ben Walker for school board on Nov. 8.
