To the Editor:
We the people , the taxpayers, are asking the District #413 School Board, specifically, for what the money, $675 /student (added to the already budgeted approximately $7500/student) in the referendum is going to be used? The letter we received in the mail was very general, it didn't say anything in that respect. Where is "Truth in Taxation" that allows the people to make an informed decision about voting on this referendum?
Also, the District #413 received COVID money, as did all school districts. For what was that money used? In our opinon, we should have a surplus, and not have to go to the taxpayers and get more money. We need accountability, we are entitled to a detailed account of that money. At the time, during the COVID pandemic, the schools were closed and therefore the utilities, janitorial services and other expenses were drastically reduced, were they not?
Lastly, the School Board should find some creative ways to stay within their budget (as we the taxpayers do). "Tax and Spend", eventually you run out of the Taxpayer's money!
