To the editor:

In regard to the lawsuit against Marshall Public Schools and individual members, a public forum writer asked, “Will Marshall Public Schools pursue professional development and workshops with experts to ensure

our school (schools are ) inclusive, safe and affirming of our LGBTQ+ youth?” (12/7/21)

Shouldn’t the question be worded as — “to ensure our schools are inclusive, safe, and affirming of all our youth?”

The mission statement of our Marshall Public School reads, in part, “to support all learners.” The school board recites the entire mission statement at the beginning of each meeting.

All learners were not being supported with the hanging of the LGBTQ+ flag. That is why the Marshall School Board requested the Middle School principal to take the flag down.
