Making Marshall a special place

To the editor:

The best of Marshall was on display this past weekend as we came together to celebrate the Sounds of Summer. From the Tiger 5000 5K to the parade to the outdoor concert, the Marshall community shined – and that’s due in large part to the dedication of so many who help to put on this event. To them I want to say, thank you.

Marshall is a special place. In fact, this city has always been an important part of my life and our family’s life. My father, Marvin, started Schwan’s Home Delivery right here in 1952. He packed ice cream from our family dairy in dry ice and drove around this community, selling out of 14 gallons that first day.

Then, and now, our success has been made possible by the support of those in Marshall. That’s why we’re proud to sponsor events like the Sounds of Summer. And more importantly, why we’re proud that our National Operations Center is located here — and will be for many years to come. At the heart of our operation are more than a hundred Marshall team members, and I am incredibly grateful for their dedication, passion, and commitment to Schwan’s Home Delivery.

The events of the past year have been a difficult time for so many. But one thing that has been made clear throughout this hardship is how important community is to the success and well-being of each of us. Again, thank you to everyone who makes our Marshall hometown such a special place.
