Not my representative

To the editor:

On June 29, HF063 was passed in the Minnesota House of Representatives, 77-57. This bill made great strides in correctly harmful provisions in state legislation on a variety of topics, including correcting the verbiage regarding ‘mentally incapacitated’ victims of sexual assault that led to the Minnesota Supreme Court to dismiss a case where a victim of rape had voluntarily consumed alcohol.

Unfortunately many of our representatives here in southwest Minnesota voted against this sensible and necessary piece of legislation including (Rep. Chris) Swedzinksi, (Rep. Paul) Torkelson, and (Rep. Joe) Schomaker.

As a survivor of rape and sexual violence I am disgusted by how these men are choosing to represent their constituents when it comes to extremely important topics. We need better.
