Is this the real reason?
To the Editor:
As we have witnessed the happenings in our nation over the past few decades– and especially last year with the virus and political animosity — is the ultimate reason for such harshness and hatred found in this quote by the late Army Gen. Douglas MacArthur (1880-1964) who said: “History fails to record a single precedent in which nations subject to moral decay have not passed into political and economic decline. There has been either a spiritual awakening to overcome the moral lapse or a progressive deterioration leading to ultimate national disaster.”
