Fischbach should resign now
To the editor:
In the Jan. 7 Short Takes section of the Independent the editor called questionable Rep.Fischbach’s decision objecting to the election certification conducted by Congress.
Her objection to the certification was far beyond questionable.
Had she studied facts, like the work of the state legislatures, election boards, and the results of the courts re: voting challenges, and supported truth she would have voted for the certification.
Representatives take an oath to support the Constitution. The United States Constitution says that “no Person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress” who “shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against” the Constitution, “or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.”
Under the Constitution, there soon will be an investigation of any U.S. Senator or Representative who encouraged or participated in the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021.
Mrs. Fischbach’s vote objecting to certification of the electoral votes on Jan. 6 puts her in the group of lemmings, pro-autocrats and anti-Constitutional actors who have violated their oath and should not be in Congress.
We need a representative in CD7 who supports America’s democracy. We shouldn’t have to wait until she is expelled. Mrs. Fischbach should resign now.
