LGBT flag represents a double standard To the editor:

There is no law that supports the claim that people’s First Amendment Rights are being harmed by flying this (LGBT) flag.”

“This should not be a religious issue.. .”

These are two of the comments voiced at Monday’s School Board meeting, as reported in the Independent (3/3/20).

What is happening in Marshall, Minnesota, our town on the prairie?

The LGBT flag, hung in a public school is harming freedom of religion and is a religious issue because it represents a way of life that does not honor God’s laws or glorify God, who reveals Himself and His love for His created beings in the Bible.

The Apostle Paul wrote to the Christians in Rome, “Since they (men and women) did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, He gave them over to do what ought not to be done — sexual impurity, unnatural relations among women, men committed indecent acts with other men.” (Romans 1:18-28, inclusive)

“They not only continue to do these very things, but also approve of those who practice them.” (Romans 1: 32)

Nativity scenes are no longer displayed in public buildings, nor are the Ten Commandments. Why is there a law about these displays and not a law about hanging an LGBT flag?

I am appealing to the Marshall School Board to prepare a statement that allows items to be displayed in Marshall Public Schools that do not promote a certain religious belief. Then all children will be respected.
