Please consider giving to the United Way

To the Editor

There are countless ways that the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) impacts our communities. Filling backpacks and kindergarten bags for our schools, granting dollars to local food shelves and investing in the safety and well-being of our friends and neighbors, is a very small sample of the ways the UWSWMN makes a difference in the lives of our community members.

I think it is safe to say that we have all been affected by hardship or tragedy or at the very least know someone who has. The resources that the UWSWMN can provide or the programs it helps to fund can be utilized by every person and every community in our service area to help support our community members. The UWSWMN has helped to change the lives of over 52,600 LOCAL people because of the contributions of generous donors in our area and beyond.

We are nearing the end of our campaign. Our goal of $600,000 is nearly met. Thank you to all have already made donations, whether that is a monetary donation, volunteer time or in-kind donations. They are all appreciated! If you have yet to donate, please consider a donation prior to January 31st. Making goal is merely a measuring stick that we use once a year to motivate fundraising. Our real goal is to make a positive impact in the lives of others…that is our goal.

As board chair I would like to personally thank all donors, past, present and future for your support. Generosity is never hard to come by in our rural areas and never ceases to amaze me. Let’s help our home!
