Shame on those who speak ill of those who endured horror of being a POW

To the editor:

Shame on anyone who would suggest that if a person who is taken prisoner of war in defense of our country no matter the branch of service and the conflict is less than doing their duty and is not a hero.

I was fortunate. I did not face this possibility during my time in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. The Korean War was in a state of truce and Vietnam was in the future.

But to hear anyone, especially someone who never served, speak ill of those who did and endured the horror and terror of the experience as a POW; Shame on them!
