According to Supervisor Dane Meyer, North Memorial Marshall provides emergency services in a large coverage area that reaches just west of Vesta to Taunton. Meyer says his team of about 18 provides advanced life support and basic life support.

Besides the emergencies, North Memorial also routinely transfers patients from Avera Marshall and other medical facilities in the region to facilities that provide needed higher care. Meyer says his team keeps extremely busy between the 911 calls and transfers.

And of course the COVID-19 pandemic has dealt paramedics many challenges. Unfortunately, there’s was no handbook to follow. It was learn as you go, according to Meyer.

“That’s what we do — we serve the community,” he said.
