We have been learning about Ivanhoe’s Lois Paine Widmark and her early life in western South Dakota, high school in Lyons, Nebraska, and serving with the WAVES in Washington, D.C .during WWII. Lois met her future husband, Arnold Widmark, while in high school and corresponded with him during WWII, when he served with the Merchant Marine. When Lois was discharged from the WAVES, she moved to Blair, Nebraska, to live with her parents and attended two years of college on the GI Bill. CLEMENTS — Mass of Christian Burial for Constance “Connie” Kodet, 76, of Clements will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan, with burial at a later date in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. at the church the day of the mass. The Nelson-Hillestad Funeral and Cremation Service of Morgan and Redwood Falls are in charge of the arrangements. She died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, at Gil Mor Manor in Morgan.

PIPESTONE — Services for Karen Griebel, 80, of Pipestone will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will follow in New Woodlawn Cemetery in Pipestone.

REDWOOD FALLS — Mass of Christian Burial for Marion G. “Mary” Lipetzky, 96, of Redwood Falls will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m., at the Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Redwood Falls. Visitation will continue one hour prior to her service at the church.

BALATON — Mass of Christian Burial for Maxine Timmerman, 80, of Balaton will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m., at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Tracy. Visitation will continue Monday from 10-11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Tracy.
