William Francis Thomas died while in palliative care at Mayo Clinic in Rochester on Tuesday, 22 September 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernez and Bill Thomas, and his son, SSG Adam S. Thomas. He is survived by his wife Candace, his daughters Maggie (Emily) and Anna (Seth), and grandchildren Chloe, Zoe, Cameron, and Sydney. His brilliance as a teacher, his loving kindness, and his warm sense of humor will be greatly missed. A celebration of his life will be held on 26 October 2026 at 2 p.m. in the Regional Event Center at SMSU.
