SIOUX FALLS--Russell (Russ) Witt passed peacefully at his home in Sioux Falls, SD on August 17th, 2026 after a long battle with Front Temporal Dementia.
Russ worked at the Eagles Club in Marshall for many years as the manager before moving to Sioux Falls, SD in 1998.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jo Barnett-Witt, brothers Don, Bill and Dave Witt along with two aunts and uncles of Riverton, WY, many beloved cousins, nephews and nieces. Russ was married previously to Sonja (Wixon) Wilson (Dan) and was proud to consider himself a father to Annette (Madsen) Mertens (Joel) of Redwood Falls, MN, Jarad Barnett (Mandy) of Sioux Falls, SD and Brent Witt of Oak Grove, MN. Russell loved being a grandfather even if only in title to Jordan Barnett of Sioux Falls, SD, Sydney, Madisyn and Dylan Mertens Redwood Falls, MN and Ava Witt Oak Grove, MN.
Prayer service will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral home in Sioux Falls from 5-8 p.m. on September 23rd and the mass at the St. Joseph Cathedral at 10 a.m. on the 24th of September with a luncheon in the church basement. Internment to follow at a later date at Saint Michaels Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD
