He died peacefully Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Garnette Gardens in Redwood Falls.
He was born Feb. 4, 1937, to George and Maida (Neumann) Cech on the farm in Lac qui Parle County. He served in the U.S. Army as an ROTC infantry officer from 1959-1968, continuing his devotion on the Redwood Legion. While serving his military service he was airborne qualified, attended Ranger training, and then became an Army aviator. While in the 82nd Airborne Division, he completed over 1,000 hours of pilot time in the HUEY.
Survivors include his wife, Veronica; children, James of Prague, Jerome of Arvada, Colorado, and Jeffery of Longmont, Colorado; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Ardis Stratton.
