The couple built their home in Minneota and raised their five children there. Charlene went back to school and got her nursing degree after raising her children. She worked at the assisted living and nursing home in Minneota until she retired.

Charlene had a great love for her family and she and Bob loved having everyone to their house as much as they could, celebrating holidays or just getting together. She made everyone feel loved and welcomed. She was truly the foundation of her family. She loved baking for everyone, especially for her grandkids who loved her famous chocolate chip cookies.

Charlene was very active in her church, St. Edward, making pies as a "pie lady" and working at the thrift store, funeral committee, and making prayer shawls. Her faith was very important to her.
