Carol Spencer
July 14th, 1937-May 22, 2026
TAMPA, FL–Carol Spencer died peacefully in Tampa FL on May 22nd, 2026, at the age of 88 after a short illness.
She is survived by her children, Tom (and Terry) Spencer of Yukon OK, Bob (and Janice) Spencer of Vancouver BC and Anne Spencer-Christensen of Clearwater Beach FL; eight grandchildren; Katie, Ian, Sam, Molly, Victoria, Sarah, Tatayana and Scot; and four great-grandchildren; Lincoln, Eden, Waylon and Alec.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Richard, her parents Otto and Elma, brothers Jack and Paul and sister Cynthia all of Sonoma County CA
Carol was born on July 14th, 1937, in Petaluma CA to Otto and Elma Meyer. She graduated from Petaluma High School in 1955. She then attended Highland Nursing School in Oakland CA and completed her degree with an RN in 1958.
She married Richard Spencer in 1959 in Petaluma and then resided in Berkeley CA. After several moves between Urbana IL and St. Paul MN, the Spencer family would end up in Marshall MN where Carol was an RN at Weiner Memorial Hospital (later Medical Center) between 1968 and the late 1980’s then transitioning into a State of MN job inspecting Nursing Homes; around 1995 Carol returned to school at Southwest State University/Marshall MN to obtain a degree in History; graduating in 1997
Carol loved to have people over to the house to entertain and did so for most of her life. She enjoyed gardening in her younger years, reading, classical music, playing the flute and piano and was active in her church and of course spending time and doing things with her children and grandchildren; going on many adventures. She will be greatly missed.
A Service is planned for later this Summer in Shoreview MN. After arrangements are finalized; an announced date and time will be forthcoming.
