Oct. 17, 2954-April 26, 2026

PORTER — The funeral service for Jeffry Flood, 71, of Porter, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Following a funeral luncheon, interment with military honors will take place at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Minneota.

Jeffry James Flood was born on October 17, 1954, to James and Jylan (Demuth) in Canby, Minnesota. He grew up on a farm outside Taunton where he developed a lifelong love for hard work, machinery, and rural life. He graduated from Minneota High School in 1972.

Following high school, Jeff proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for two years and continued his service in the National Guard for 15 years, serving until 1990. Jeff married Jane (Vlaminck) on November 22, 1975, at St. Edward Catholic Church. They lived in rural Taunton, and then settled in Porter, where they raised their two daughters.

Jeff dedicated his career to working as a truck driver and diesel mechanic, earning a reputation as someone who could fix just about anything. Jeff had a great gift with engines and spent countless hours restoring old tractors, cars, and trucks. Known locally as an expert on two-cylinder John Deere tractors, Jeff helped many others with his knowledge, parts and skills. His passion extended to his grandkids making sure they had pedal tractors to get around the yard, and then cars when they outgrew those.

Outside of work, Jeff enjoyed camping with his family, trips to the casino, and league bowling. A proud moment for Jeff was winning first place in a bowling tournament alongside his granddaughter Brynn.

Jeff passed away on April 26, 2026, after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his daughters Rachel (George) Flood-Grubb of Nicollet and Rhonda (Dustin) Hauschild of Springfield, five grandchildren Hannah (Alex), Charlie, and Nick Grubb, and Kyliey (Brent) and Brynn Hauschild; sisters Gina Bernardy of Mt. Zion, IL, Judy (Mark) Timm of Columbus, NE, and Ruth (Steve) Schellenberg of Milroy; brothers Jim of Lynd and Bill (Janet) of Porter; his mother Jylan of Marshall; his sisters-in-law Mary (Jerome) Jerzak of Ivanhoe, Audrey (Ron) Weverka of Hendricks, Diane (Larry) Anderson of Brookings, SD, and Carol (Doug) Hoffman of Parkers Prairie; his dear friend Connie Tomiczek of Porter; his loyal dog Pokey, who never left his side; and many friends and family who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jane; his brother Nick; his father James; and brothers-in-law Pete Vlaminck and Doug Bernardy.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions to Neva’s Fund, Sanford Canby Hospice.
