Robert Joseph Truwe was born January 25, 1936 to Edwin Frank and Bernardine Clara (Gisch) Truwe in Winnebago, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and attended school at Walnut Grove. On September 10, 1955, Robert married Rosella McCoy at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tracy, beginning a partnership that would endure decades. Throughout his life, Robert called many communities in southern Minnesota home – Amboy, Milroy, Mountain Lake, Garvin, Slayton, Currie, and finally Amiret. Robert lent his hands to local farmers in the Amiret, Garvin, Tracy, and Currie area from the young age of 16 to 27 years old. He then dedicated over 30 years to the Lyon County Highway Department, working out of the Amiret shop, demonstrating unwavering commitment and reliability. Beyond his work, Robert found joy in the simple pleasures: trapping, fishing, hunting, gardening, cheering for the Twins and Lynx, as well as camping and traveling with those he loved. His legacy lives on in the countless memories shared by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Robert is survived by his children: Patricia (Larry) Lavoie of Marshall, Robert (Kathy) Truwe of Amiret, Geralyn (Wade) Jensen of Casa Grande, AZ, Ann (Joe Knyakal) Truwe of Poynette, WI, Michael J. He is preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Bernardine Truwe, wife and love of his life Rosella (McCoy) Truwe, 2 infant sons Michael Robert and baby John, daughter Rose Marie Brooks, great-granddaughter Caitlin Demuth and sister Marcella Schmidt.
