James Henry Curwick was born to Reno and Louise (Baert) Curwick on February 11, 1930, in Marshall, Minnesota. He lived there for 44 years.

Jim attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School through 7th grade where he dropped out to help support his mother’s family of seven. While working at Marshall Foods, Jim met the love of his life, Wynifred Erickson. Jim and Winnie remained married for 71 years while raising five energetic and sometimes out-of-control kids. Jim got his GED and took a job with MN-DOT as a draftsman. He then took a job as a grading foreman with G.A. Olson road construction, Brown & Leguil road construction, and finally with Johnson Brothers, building roads all over the country for 46 years.

In 1974, Jim & Winnie’s dream came true when they bought a lake resort and moved to Crooked Lake west of Alexandria. When they retired to Brandon, Minnesota, they enjoyed fishing, traveling and visiting with family.

Winnie passed away in 2021, and Jim eventually moved back to Marshall and passed peacefully into his new life.
