Allie Marie Enga
May 11, 1941-March 18, 2026
COTTONWOOD–It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Allie Marie Enga, 84, of Cottonwood, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 pm with the celebration commencing at 2 pm with a tea party luncheon to follow at the church.
Born on May 11, 1941, Allie was a devoted gardener and curator of life’s simple pleasures and beauty. She found profound joy in nurturing the earth, transforming soil and seed into vibrant gardens that brought delight to all who visited her Dove Cottage. With patient hands and a keen eye for color and form, she cultivated not only flowers but also a deep connection to the natural world. Her garden was a sanctuary–a place where beauty flourished and peace could always be found.
Beyond the garden gate, Allie had an artist’s appreciation for the everyday elegance of a well-crafted antique dish, linen, or tea cup. She understood that beauty belongs on our tables, in our living rooms, front porches, and in our daily rituals of sharing meals and making memories. Her collections reflected a discerning eye and a belief that we should only surround ourselves with objects that bring joy and delight to one’s soul. And her books…yes, Allie loved her books!
Allie is survived by her children Laura Enga (Steven Volkman), John Enga (Amy), and daughter-in-law Marie Enga. Allie was lucky to find True Love in her 80s with her constant and loving companion for the last four years, Luther Eidem of Hendricks. She is also survived by her brother Alvin Smith (Marilyn) and sister Sylvia Swanson (Wayne); grandchildren Jordan Peterson (Tosha), Rachel Enga, Renee Enga, Scott Enga Jr, Edgar Pina, and great-grandson Elijah Taylor, along with many nieces and nephews that she so enjoyed spending time with.
Allie was preceded in death by her parents Sydney and Elva Smith, husband John Enga, son Scott Enga, sister June Findlay, and brother Sam Smith; special friends Frank Edmonson and Norman Nelson.
Allie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generous heart, her passion for social justice, and the living legacy of beauty she cultivated in gardens and in the lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Cottonwood Area Food Pantry, 90 West Main St., Cottonwood, MN 56229, a cause that was very dear to Allie.
