George Timmerman
BALATON–Mass of Christian Burial for George Timmerman, 82, of Balaton, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 4:00 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Tracy. Visitation will continue on Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Tracy.
George Victor Timmerman was born on May 12, 1943 to Rene & Alida (Maeyaert ) Timmerman in Clarkfield, MN. He was the fifth of eight children & spent his younger years on a farm near St. Leo, MN. In 1950, they moved to a farm just outside of Balaton, MN which became the family farm homestead. He graduated from Balaton High School in 1961 and went on to serve in the U.S National Guard for 6 years from 1962-1967. He was baptized & confirmed in the Catholic Church and carried his faith with him throughout his life.
On August 28th, 1965, George was united in marriage to the love of his life, Maxine Delores Paulson in Tracy, MN at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and have shared a memorable life together. They lived in a mobile home in several different cities of Iowa while George worked in road construction for 12 years. They welcomed their first daughter Patricia in 1966, their second daughter Connie in 1967, and their third daughter Sherrie in 1971. They bought a house in Eldridge, Iowa when Patty was ready to start school.
In 1977, George moved his family back home to take over the family farm & become a farmer full-time. He loved farming, gardening, and working outside on different projects. George & Maxine liked traveling and took the family on a yearly vacation to Wisconsin Dells. He enjoyed playing cards with friends & family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. George farmed up until his retirement in 2025.
George died peacefully at home surrounded by family late on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 after his battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
George is survived by his wife, two daughters, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and seven siblings.
He is preceded in death by his youngest daughter and his parents.
