Jean Brobst

MARSHALL–Jean Brobst, age 80, formerly of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. A Prayer Service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Private interment will be at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall, Minnesota.

Jean (Hess) Brobst was born on July 29, 1945, in Marshall, MN to Norbert and Clara (VanOverbeke) Hess. She attended Holy Redeemer School and graduated in 1963 from Central Catholic High School in Marshall. Jean went on earn her associates degree as a dental assistant in Milwaukee, WI. On July 2, 1966, she married her high school sweetheart, John Brobst, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. They moved to Chicago, IL, where John began his career as a CPA. After a year, they returned to Marshall where John became managing partner at Hoffman & Brobst while Jean worked as a dental assistant prior to becoming parents.

Jean was a devoted wife and domestic engineer that prioritized raising her three children and loved to volunteer in her spare time. She found peace and solitude in caring for her gardens, curling up with a good book, enjoying her morning coffee, and being present for each of her children. Jean found great joy in spending quality time with all of her siblings. As a couple, John and Jean loved to travel with close friends. They took many walks in Camden State Park talking about life, loved to bird watch, and played many rounds of golf together. They truly were each other’s best friend!

Jean Adele Brobst, age 80, passed away peacefully with her three children by her side on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. She is survived by her children: Todd (Jenn Nuss) Brobst of Hopkins, MN; Ryan (Lisa) Brobst of Cedarburg, WI; Jessica (Jason) Thomas of Denver, CO; 5 grandchildren: Jude Brobst, Samantha Brobst, Corgan Thomas, Easton (Berenice) Thomas, Emma (Isaiah Skelton) Thomas; 1 great-grandchild: Asher Skelton-Thomas; siblings: Christine (Carl Rohlik) Hess of Marshall, Nancy Bruckner of Marshall, Bill (Anita) Hess of Marshall, Chuck (Deb) Hess of Villard, Tom (Jeanine) Hess of Rogers; nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, John Brobst and her parents, Norbert and Clara Hess. Jean’s loving spirit, great smile, and huge heart will be missed by all.
