Yvonne Meyer
COTTONWOOD–Yvonne Meyer, age 86, of Cottonwood, Minnesota passed away September 2, 2025, at Parkview Home in Belview, Minnesota. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Cottonwood Community Center. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM also at the Community Center. Burial will be at the Cottonwood City Cemetery following the service
Yvonne Janet Meyer was born on June 22, 1939, on a farm near Clarkfield, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Her parents were Paul E. Meyer and Freada (Westerbur) Meyer. She grew up on a farm one mile west of Cottonwood and graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1958.
After graduation, Yvonne moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and worked there. On November 18, 1960, she married Jerald Hellwig and they made their home in Sioux Falls where she also worked at Viking Glass Company. Yvonne later transferred thru Viking Glass Company to Dickinson, North Dakota and work there for 15 years. She eventually moved to Minneapolis to work for a different glass company until her retirement. Yvonne enjoyed working in Home Health Care during retirement and in 2010, she moved back home to Cottonwood to be near family. In 2023, Yvonne moved into Parkview Home in Belview, Minnesota where she received wonderful care from the great staff.
Yvonne’s faith, family and her love of God and His truths were very important to her.
She is survived by her siblings, Darwin (Nancy) Meyer of Cottonwood, Judy (Lowell) Toews of Ontario, Canada, Larry (Barbara) Meyer of Coon Rapids; sister-in-law, Elaine Meyer of Cottonwood; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents, Paul “Bud” and Freada “Fannie” Meyer; siblings, Kenneth Meyer, Eugene Meyer, Kay (Sam) Fragale; husband, Jerald Hellwig.
