Thomas “Tom” Wyffels

MARSHALL–A memorial service honoring the life of Thomas “Tom” Wyffels, 80, of Marshall, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the Remembrance Center. Interment will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Thomas Dean Wyffels was born on November 14, 1944, in Marshall, MN, the third of eleven children born to Vincent and Emmerence (Ferbuyt) Wyffels. He grew up in Marshall, attended Holy Redeemer Grade School and graduated from Marshall High School. After graduation, Tom enlisted and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. While stationed in South Carolina, he met Rebecca “Becky” Bissett. The couple was married in South Carolina and they recently celebrated 57 years together. After Tom’s honorable discharge, he returned to Marshall. He loved animals, especially dogs and horses. He bred quarter horses and belonged to both the American and Minnesota Quarter Horse Associations.
Tom was a dedicated husband. He enjoyed family events and activities. He was somewhat outspoken, yet quite soft underneath his exterior. He didn’t show emotions easily but he always stood up for his family.
Tom died on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He is survived by his wife, Becky, of Marshall, siblings Brian Wyffels of Chanhassen, Pam Lewis of Cheyanne, WY, Mary Ellen Wyffels of Edina, Sandra Marie Wyffels of Anoka, Janet Elizabeth (Richard) Bruder of Colorado Springs, CO, Renee Louise Wyffels (Kim Lilihaug) of South Haven, MN, Regina (Jim) Halbert of Plymouth, MN, sister-in-law Cheryl Wyffels of Marshall, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and in-laws; Duane Wyffels, Gary (Elaine) Wyffels, Joyce (Steve) Wentworth and Diane Wyffels.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that people make a donation in Tom’s name to the MN Quarter Horse Association.
