Ronald “Ron” Bloomquist

MINNEOTA–A visitation to commemorate the life of Ronald “Ron” Bloomquist, 77, of Taunton, will take place on Saturday, August 23, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Minneota.

Ronald Lee Bloomquist was born on April 3, 1948, in Monticello, MN, to Alvin and Ellen (Ring) Bloomquist. He grew up in Truman, MN, and graduated from Truman High School. Ron served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. On August 22, 1975, he was united in marriage to Sheila Jeremiason at Hemnes Lutheran Church in Minneota. The couple lived in Madelia until 1987 when they moved to Lewisville, MN, where they owned and operated a gas station. In 1998, they moved to Taunton. Ron was a Truck Driver and drove for several local operations including Floyd Wild Trucking and Jeremiason Farms.

Ron was a private man. He enjoyed coin collecting and playing cards and darts. After a recent cancer diagnosis, he suffered a heart attack and multi-organ system failure.

Ron died on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He is survived by his wife, Sheila, of Taunton, son Kyle Bloomquist of Sherburn, MN, granddaughter Kaitlin (Trevor) Wiederhoeft, great-grandchildren Summar, Scarlett and Jax; sister Sandra Boyd of Blue Earth and sister-in-law Shirley Bloomquist of Blue Earth. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Denise, grandson Konner and brother Delmar.
