Gene Kohout

BECHYN — Mass of Christian Burial for Gene Kohout, 74, of Bechyn will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Redwood Falls with a livestream on the church’s YouTube page. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church Friday. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mary’s Preservation Society. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

He died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at his home.

He was born June 4, 1950, to William and Rose (Goblish) Kohout in Redwood Falls. From Oct. 15, 1970 to April 14, 1972, he served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. When he returned home, he joined the National Guard where he served for many years.

Survivors include his siblings, Judy Rien of Annandale, Karen Piekarski of Little Falls, Shirley Kohout of Missoula, Montana, Marsha Fluck of Redwood Falls, Mike of Redwood Falls, Renee Cash of Atwater, John of Olivia, Joan Ryan of Miltona, Larry of Redwood Falls and Laurie Scherer of Missoula, Montana.
