Brenda Platt

IONA — Graveside services for Brenda Louise “Weezie” Platt, 71, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Columba Cemetery in Iona, with a celebration of life to follow from 2-4 p.m. at the St. Columba Hall in Iona. Military honors will be accorded by the Wilmont VFW Post. Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton is entrusted with arrangements. 

She died Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

She was born June 19, 1952, in Slayton, to Paul and Mary Ann “Babe” Schettler Platt. She enlisted in the United States Air Force where she served stateside and in England. 

Survivors include her partner, Terry Rupp of Iona; eight siblings, Marlene “Mert” Brown of Slayton, Vicky Plaisance of Hadley, Karla Mahon of Slayton, Augusta Meyer-Brandt of Isle, Bruce, Bryon and Bernie, all of Iona, and Barry of Cleveland.
