Elaine Vlaminck

April 24, 1939- Jan. 12, 2024

MARSHALL­–Elaine Vlaminck, age 89, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Madison Healthcare Services Care Center in Madison, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2024, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. A reception will follow immediately in Carlin Hall. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. The evening will begin with a Rosary and 5:00 p.m. and close with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will then continue one hour prior to her celebration, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., on Friday, at the church. Elaine Marie Hochstatter was born on April 24, 1934, on the family farm near Marshall, Minnesota. She was baptized, received first communion, and was confirmed at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Elaine attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Marshall through the 8th grade before helping on the home farm and assisting neighbors with various chores. In 1952, Elaine met Mr. Alouis “Louie” Vlaminck at a local dance.

Elaine and Louie were united in marriage on February 7, 1955, at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. The couple farmed Southwest of Minneota for over 40 years. Elaine was a devoted homemaker and mother. She was an important part of the farm operation and success of the farm. After their retirement in 1995, when the couple moved into Marshall. In the spring of 2020, Elaine moved to Boulder Estates where she made many friends in recent years.

Elaine was a longtime, faithful member of Saint Edward’s Catholic Church in Minneota and later Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. She served the church in various roles and was also an active member at the Marshall Senior Center. She loved a good card game and was often found embroidering beautiful pieces that ended up all over the world.

Elaine Vlaminck died peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024, in Madison, Minnesota. She had reached the age of 89 years, 8 months, and 18 days. Blessed and eternal be her memory.

She is survived by her four children, Nancy (and Brian) Bormann of Canby, Barb (and Larry) Zondervan of Jenison, MI, Steve (and Jolene) Vlaminck of Harvey, ND, Paula (and Tom) Sterzinger of Taunton; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucinda (and Dennis) Mitchell of Marshall, Lorraine (and Joe) DeJaeghere of Minneota; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gertrude (Stallmann) Hochstatter; loving husband of 62 years, Louie Vlaminck; son, Greg Vlaminck; grandson, Zach Vlaminck; and 6 siblings, John, Lawrence, Lester, Arnold, Orville, and Arlene.
