Daniel M. Schuttler

ST. CLOUD — Memorial services for Daniel Schuttler, 74, of St. Cloud will be 11 a.m. Monday Feb. 5, at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Rev. Bruce Timm will officiate and entombment with full military honors will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Monday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

Daniel passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Daniel Martin Schuttler was born Nov. 29, 1949, in Canby, to Francis and Lorraine (Hanson) Schuttler. He attended school in Canby and graduated high school in 1967. Daniel married Diane Mittelstadt on Sept. 6, 1969. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1969, initially stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona, then serving in the Vietnam War, then stationed in Europe and was discharged in 1975. Dan and Diane moved to St. Cloud in 1975 and he attended St. Cloud State graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1979. He worked at Stone Container for 35 years, retiring in 2015.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, football, cooking and grilling. He also enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s many school activities. He was a mentor for Junior Achievement. He was a member of the American Legion. He served as a chaperone for the Disabled Veterans Deer Hunt through the VA for many years. He served as treasurer for the Red River Archery Club. He was an excellent hunter and got over 50 deer in his lifetime. He also held a record in the Pope and Young for the 11th largest bear hunted by bow and arrow that year. He was an avid jokester, loved reading the comics and was making jokes all the way up to his final days.

He is survived by his wife Diane of St. Cloud; children, Steven (Tiffany) Schuttler of Peoria, AZ; Amy (Travis) Olson of Hugo, MN; grandchildren, Daniel, Evelyn, Evan, Madilynn, Kaylee, Lucy and Max; siblings, Douglas (Karen) Schuttler, George Schuttler, Thomas (Joan) Schuttler, Kimberly Van Pelt, step-siblings, Daniel (Rose) Butterbaugh, Sharie Stockfeld and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Lorraine; and brothers, Francis Lee Schuttler and James Schuttler.

Memorials are preferred to the Wounded Warrior Project or The Disabled American Veterans.
