Joyce Ann Senden

SHOREVIEW — Joyce Ann Senden was born on May 13, 1947, to Hubert and Florence (Cauwels) Senden of Ghent Minnesota. Joyce passed away on November 21, 2023, after a brief stay at the Benedictine Care Center in New Brighton, MN.

Joyce attended elementary school at St. Eloi Catholic School in Ghent and secondary school at Central Catholic High School in Marshall, MN. After high school she attended St. Catherine College in St. Paul, MN and St. Mary’s Junior College in Minneapolis, MN, where she graduated with a degree in occupational therapy. After college Joyce worked in several settings with children, including the Brainard State Hospital, St. Joseph’s Home for Children in Minneapolis, and the Children’s Museum in St. Paul. Joyce lived in her town home in Shoreview, MN before moving into an assisted living apartment at Chandler Place in St. Anthony, MN.

Joyce loved children, her family, and visiting with her cousins. She especially enjoyed spending time with her nieces. Joyce enjoyed flowers, spending time in nature, reading, craft work and making jewelry. She had the amazing ability to be able to grow and keep orchids blooming. She was involved in an exercise group and meditation group in the Shoreview area.

Joyce is survived by her brothers and sisters, Joe (Gloria), James (Leslie), Donald (Monica), Robert, Mary Ann (David) Wolf, Diane (Michael) Donatelle, Greg (Paul Ruchti), sister-in-law Karen Senden, brother-in-law Darrell Saffle, twenty one nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father John Senden, an infant brother Hubert Jr., sisters Rosemary and Judy, and her brother John.

There will be a visitation at the Washburn McReavy Funeral Chapel at 2901 Johnson St. N.E. in Minneapolis, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday December 6, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent on Saturday December 9, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., with a visitation at the church starting at 9:30 a.m.

The family requests that memorial gifts be sent to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, the Susan G. Koman Cancer Foundation or a charity of the giver’s choice.
