Fern Trausch

Fern Leona Willard was born March 2, 1941, to Vernon and Bertha Willard. She grew up on a farm near Marshall, attended country school and graduated from Marshall High School in 1959. Fern joined the U.S. Army following graduation and was stationed in California where she met and married her husband Ralph Hobrecker. From this union, two sons were born. Following Ralph’s death in 1987, Fern returned to the Marshall area for a few years but then returned to California where her sons were living. Fern met and married Andrew Trausch while there and lived at Laguna Woods, CA where she passed away peacefully at her home on Sept. 2, 2023. Fern loved the Lord and was very active with her Methodist church family. She was also very involved in Daughters of the American Revolution. Fern was a champion Scrabble player and won many tournament games.

She is survived by her two sons David (and friend Amber) Hobrecker of Tempe, AZ and Edward (Silvana) Hobrecker of Redondo Beach, CA; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Verlane Ross of Balaton, Lois (Darrell) Giles of Balaton and Frances (Roger) Stassen of Marshall; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Bertha Willard; husbands, Ralph Hobrecker and Andrew Trausch; sister, Iva Bird and great-granddaughter, Tanya Hobrecker.

Fern will be greatly missed by her family and friends. May God bless her memory.

A graveside service will be held at the Marshall Cemetery for Fern (Willard) Hobrecker Trausch at 10 a.m. Sept. 30, 2023.
