Rebecca Covington

March 12, 1965-March 27, 2023

Rebecca Suzanne Huhta Covington was born March 12, 1965 to David and Sharon Huhta in Mankato, MN. Her first five years were spent in the Mankato and Chicago area, then the family moved to Lake Benton where she went to school and learned to love the hills and beauty of nature. She enjoyed drawing flowers, trees, and animals in her world.

She and Ty Albright were married in 1983 and had two children – Jessica Sydney and Mackenzy D. Watching them grow and mature was her joy and she encouraged their many interests. She loved gardening and spent much time going through the seed catalogs; she joked that when her seed orders came she realized how the long Minnesota winters affected her. After her children were grown she enrolled at Southwest MN State University where she received degrees in Art, Creative Writing, and Women’s Studies. By that time, she was Nanna to her grandchildren Jethro Albright Anderson and Zoe Bekker. She always had time to spend with them.

In 2014, she moved to Oxford, Alabama and married Fred Covington. They had a very happy marriage and enjoyed fixing up their home, yard, going to see live music and spending time at the beach. She stayed well connected with family in Minnesota and Canada via the internet.

On March 27, 2023, Becca was walking to work where she was struck by a pickup truck and killed. Becca was an organ donor, and multiple people have since been given the gift of a new life. Her beautiful soul is now with the heavenly Father and her ashes will be in the places she loved.

Grateful to have shared her life are her husband, Fred Covington, Becca’s children Jessica Bekker (Stefan) and Mackenzy Albright (Taryn), her grandchildren Jethro Albright Anderson and Zoe Bekker, her mother, Shay Huhta, her sister, Sarah Corrigan (David), her brother, Adam Huhta (Melanie), their children Mads and Dee, and her aunt Nancy Hanson (Craig), and uncle Wayne Huhta.

Becca was preceded in death by her father David Huhta and her grandparents John and Jesse Huhta and James and Sadie Gunning.
