Nov. 7, 1936-Sept. 11, 2021

WOOD LAKE — Services for Delores Naab, 84, of Wood Lake, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Posen Township, Wood Lake. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the church, and will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the St. Luke’s Cemetery.

Delores died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at her home in Wood Lake.

Delores Jean (Steinhouse) Naab was born Nov. 7, 1936, in Birch Coulee Township, Renville County, to Meta Stoll and Herbert Steinhouse. She was baptized at Morton Lutheran Church and was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. She attended school in Morton until fourth grade, then moved with her family to Wood Lake, where she attended and graduated from Wood Lake Public School in 1954. On Aug. 28, 1954, she was united in marriage to Dennis Naab. They moved to the family farm south of Wood Lake, which she loved very much. Since marriage, she has been a faithful member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.

Delores worked hard on the farm, helping with the crops, milking cows, and raising/showing their Arabian horses. Delores loved all animals, but she especially enjoyed racing her thoroughbred horses at Canterbury Downs. She and family members could be seen riding their horses through local parades in Arabian costumes. The couple was one of the founding families of the Echo Triple T Saddle Club.

Family was very important to Delores. Adopting 3 daughters was a highlight in her life. She loved family functions with all the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and was a big supporter of 4H. Delores was a skilled seamstress and a wonderful cook. The day she died, Delores was working on her famous potato salad. Delores enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, and she was very competitive. She enjoyed riding motorcycles with Dennis. Although she was hesitant to go, they took a trip to Alaska which was one of their most memorable.

Delores was a kind, caring but feisty woman who was not afraid to share her opinions. She was very political, and with a chuckle, her family knew not to bring up politics at the dinner table. That being said, she always had a place at the table for anyone who came to visit. In younger years, she had neighbors over playing guitar and singing country songs. Delores was a member of a local homemakers club.

She is survived by her husband Dennis of 67 years: children Maureen Knutson, Steven (Sandra) Naab, Jenny (David) Larsen, and Jena (Clark) Corbin; daughter-in-law Sandi Naab; grandchildren Robbin (Mike) Imes, Holly (Patrick) Running, Brittany (David) Krull, Bronson (Grecia) Naab, Briana Naab, Justin (Christi) Naab, Bobby Naab, Zac Corbin, Shelby Corbin, Derek (Haily) Larsen, Jordan (Ann) Larsen, and Connor Larsen; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Elaine Jacobson, daughter Kristine Naab, son Timothy Naab, and son-in-law Steve Knutson.
