William “Bill” W. Doyscher was born on February 24, 1933, to William and Sylvia (Boyer) Kidder in St. Paul. At the age of three, Bill and his five-year-old sister, Beverly were adopted by Peter and Martha (Baumann) Doyscher from the Lutheran Welfare Society of St. Paul. They spent their early years living near Balaton and Lake Wilson. He was baptized in St. Paul and again in Lake Wilson. He was confirmed at Good Shepherd Lutheran in Lake Wilson. Bill attended country school, then Lake Wilson playing football and basketball in high school. He was especially fond of football and encouraged his sons with their high school careers. In 1951, Peter went to be with the Lord, so Bill gave up school and farmed. After Martha sold the farm in 1953, Bill enlisted in the Army as many friends had been drafted for the Korean War. While in the service, Bill completed his GED. Bill served his country proudly as a corporal. He never hesitated to shake hands and say “thank you for your service” to any veteran.

On Aug. 16, 1955, Bill was married to Lorraine Mortland in Lake Benton. Bill and Lorraine moved to Sleep Eye where Bill eventually took a job working as a home delivery man for Oak Grove Dairy. Bill and Lorraine moved to Fairfax and began their family. This union brought five children to the world. The family moved to Lake Wilson in 1967, where Bill worked road construction. In 1968, the family moved to Bertha while Bill attended Staples Vocational School studying printing. Upon his graduation the family moved to Lake Benton where Bill worked as a printing press operator in Tyler and Brookings. On January 20, 1970, Lorraine was called to heaven by Jesus, so Bill continued to work and care for his children. Bill met then married Rita Klava on Nov. 24, 1972. Bill and Rita raised the children adding two sons to the family. But the youngest, Aaron Jacob, was not to survive. By 1988, Bill and Rita realized they had more love than children at home, so they fostered then adopted two teenage boys into the Doyscher family tree. By then the tree had already begun to grow. Bill believed that family was the most important part of our life on earth next to our belief in God.

Bill was knowledgeable, honest and enjoyed a good joke. He worked as silo builder, home delivery milkman, truck driver, printing press operator, auto mechanic, and bus driver. His bus driving career spanned a good share of his adult life. He enjoyed the children but said the parents were sometimes the main problem. Bill served as Post Commander American Legion Post 205 in Fairfax, served as a deacon at Grace Lutheran Church of Lake Benton, and upon his retirement, volunteered as a driver for elderly medical appointments. He was a current member of A. C. Hansen Post 185 of Tyler. Bill and Rita enjoyed watching the Twins and Vikings. They also had strong habits for collecting many items, having donated more than 3,000 Beanie Babies to children in Iraq and the Minnesota Children’s Hospital. The joy of those donations was considered a gift from God. Bill enjoyed watching westerns, doing crossword puzzles, fishing, and traveling the country to see family and God’s wonders. Bill will be remembered for the sugar cubes he carried for his coffee on the dash of his car, and the bucket of candy he always kept in the car.

Remembering his love are his wife Rita; children, Dana (Bryan) Rogge, Luanne (Gregorio) Cuevas, Peter (Carey) Doyscher all of Minneota, Maureen Doyscher of Robbinsdale, William (Sandy) Doyscher of Hendricks, Joel (Teresa) Doyscher of Volga, SD, Jay (Tanya) Doyscher of Fairmont, and Aaron (Stacey) Doyscher of Volga; grandchildren, Julie (Michael) Crider of Rosemount, Jennifer (Bobby) Perkins of N. Mankato, Scott (Joann) Doyscher of N. Mankato, Danelle Doyscher (fiancé, Cory Montury) of Sauk Rapids, Sherri (Tyler) Looft of Marshall, Austin (Erin) Rogge of Chaska, Courtney Rogge of Byron, Jonathan Doyscher (fiancé Emilie Paulus) of Winona, Joseph Schwartz (friend, Marci Berg) of Apple Valley, Blake Campisi of IA, Alex (Deanna) Lessman of Taunton, Cristina Cuevas (friend, Christopher Kirkwood) of St. Anthony, Daniel Northcutt of TX, Isabella Northcutt of HI, Mason and Dawson Doyscher of Volga; great grandchildren, Cameron, Jaden & Colten Crider, Aubrey and Kenley Doyscher, Tristan Looft, Darian Montury, Camden and Raylene Rogge, Lucy, Logan and Lincoln Lessman. Bill is also survived by many nieces and nephews and close friends.

Bill decided he had to be with the Lord on Feb. 18, 2021. Through his years Bill’s faith continued to grow and Bill always prayed and asked God for repentance of his sins. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lorraine; son, Aaron Jacob; sister, Beverly (Francis) Chapman; birth and adoptive parents, William and Sylvia Kidder, Peter and Martha Doyscher; in-laws, James and Berniece Mortland, Richard and Lois Klava, and several other family members. God has shed his grace upon Bill and his family.
